The Waikato Mayoral Forum (which includes local mayors and the regional council chair) is in the process of implementing an integrated work programme over three years to help boost the regional economy and deliver multi-million dollar cost savings.
This includes development of the Waikato Spatial Plan (also known as the Waikato Plan) which is taking a ‘one Waikato’ view about the future of our region to enable informed decision making.
The Waikato Plan will be the first time all the councils and agencies in the Waikato have worked together to create one plan that gives them one collective voice about issues that affect all current and future residents. These issues include: transport, housing, water, the environment, natural hazards, settlement patterns, future employment and development opportunities, as well as arts, cultural, recreation, education, heritage and health needs.
Our site contains the latest forum news, information on the various workstreams and technical reports which have informed that work.
